Philip & Kelvin LaVerne "Donna" bronze & pewter wall plaque
Philip & Kelvin LaVerne's "Donna" plaque is made of bronze and pewter and signed on the bottom right. With its original label on the back, the piece also includes a folded poster from an exhibition at The Tennessee Fine Arts Center at Cheekwood for "Sculptural Paintings and Tables in Metal, Feb 10-Mar 10, 1963" which featured this specific work. Pristine condition. Measures 10 1/4" square.
This square LaVerne "Donna" plaque is decorated with a side angled nude of a woman in bronze and pewter. Known for the "underground" aging of the metals they worked with in both their sculptural and furniture designs, the complexity of the LaVernes' process is legendary and contributed to 20th-century studio and craft design.
