Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona Daybed for Knoll (SOLD)
Designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1930, the iconic Barcelona Daybed has been manufactured by Knoll since 1953. The daybed is built on a hardwood frame with tubular steel legs in a polished stainless steel finish. Upholstered in its original deep red leather upholstery. Very good condition. Originally created for the German Pavillion for the World Exhibition in Barcelona in 1930 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich, the Barcelona day bed, chair and table form a classic collection of furniture designs. Characterized by a high degree of detail, each of the 72 pockets on the day bed are hand seamed and buttoned from one piece of leather. The cushion rests on leather straps and a steel frame in polished chrome.
